This is a new song I wrote called "Just a Phase". It's about my ex boyfriend and about my current husband. Reflecting on what I have now VS what I had in the past just brings an overwhelming sense of gratefulness to my heart.
If you are now happily taken or happily married, and you had prior relationships that were toxic, you may be able to relate to this song! The lyrics are below!
LYRICS:
You told me that you cared,
that you'd always be there
that you were mine for life,
but that was a lie
And all the time I wasted,
staring at you, captivated
I was fascinated by your kind
But now I see differently,
God came and rescued me
And gave me a man and not a boy
And he didn't leave me
waiting by the phone
and he didn't take a break
and leave me all alone
and he didn't make me question my faith
He's my forever,
and you were just a phase
You told me that sin was gone,
that you chose me over those wrongs,
but you snuck around our little town
Hoping I wouldn't catch you,
breaking my heart in two
but I was intrigued by your dangerous vibe
But now I see differently,
God came and rescued me
And gave me a man and not a boy
And he didn't leave me
waiting by the phone
and he didn't take a break
and leave me all alone
and he didn't make me question my faith
He's my forever,
and you were just a phase
Potential won't make a good partner
and secrets won't make a good leader
and bad guys can't be fixed
And he pays for your mistakes
but does it filled with grace
and I couldn't be more grateful that you're gone
Cause you were a lesson that stays in my past,
you were my first, but he's my last
Cause he didn't leave me
waiting by the phone
and he didn't take a break
and leave me all alone
and he didn't make me question my faith
He's my forever,
and you were just a phase
